What Happened?
Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in collaboration with the country’s immigration authorities, has deported 102 foreign nationals convicted of cyber-terrorism and internet crypto fraud. - Perpetrators, known locally as “Yahoo Boys,” recruited Nigerian collaborators to initiate contact via phishing and fake social media profiles.
- Once trust was established, foreign partners took over to persuade targets into transferring money or investing in bogus cryptocurrency schemes.
